    Brandon is an experienced project and program manager, a seasoned policy analyst, and an incorrigible information sponge. He recently completed a career in the Marine Corps where he led test and evaluation efforts for acquisition projects with congressional oversight, created an education and training roadmap for technical skills programs, and was fortunate enough to lead and work alongside some of our country’s greatest people. He obtained a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on finance from the University of Florida, completed his MBA at Virginia Tech, and is a Project Management Professional. He is based in Anchorage, AK.

    Laura Cullen is passionate about educating others on the benefits of building with wood. Prior to joining WoodWorks, Laura worked as a structural designer for seven years. Her previous structural design experience focused primarily on mixed-use and multi-family structures, as well as K-12 schools. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Berry College. Laura is based in the Atlanta area, where she is a member of CREW Atlanta, a business network for the commercial real estate market, and a 2018 graduate of Leadership CREW.

    Patrick is a licensed Professional Engineer in Maine. He began his engineering career working on the design of light-frame and panelized light-frame wood construction on residential, commercial, and memory care facilities in New England and throughout the southeast. Most recently, he has gained architecture and engineering design experience on government contracts for facilities across the northeast, including projects in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and Maine. Patrick aims to share his passion for wood design with project teams and owners, helping to bridge knowledge gaps and turn the desire to build with mass timber into a reality. He has a BS in Civil /Structural Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, and served six years in the US Army Reserves.

    A licensed Professional Engineer in Kentucky, Anthony received his BS and MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Kentucky, both with structural specialization. Before joining WoodWorks, he spent more than a decade working as a design consultant. He has experience in structural design, 3D modeling and detailing (REVIT), construction administration, inspections, and project management for a variety of project types, including: healthcare, office, retail, K-12/higher education, historical, industrial/distillery, municipal, military, multi-family, and mixed-used buildings. Anthony is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve where, as an Engineer Officer, he has held various leadership and staff positions.

    Tino is a licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin and received a BS and MS in Civil Engineering from Marquette University. Before joining WoodWorks, he worked as a structural engineering consultant for over six years on various project types, ranging from office, mixed-use, and multi-family to higher education and historical building. Tino’s vast experience includes building design, BIM detailing, construction administration, special inspections, construction engineering, forensics, adaptive reuse, facade engineering, and project management.

    John is a licensed structural engineer in Maryland. Before joining Woodworks, he enjoyed working on various projects in the capital region for clients like the Smithsonian Institute and The National Parks Service, collaborating with architects and other engineers along the way. John is a member of Engineers Without Borders, enjoys woodworking in his free time and is passionate about the sustainable aspects of wood construction. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University close to where he grew up, and a Master of Civil Engineering Degree from Johns Hopkins University with a focus in Structural Engineering.

    Jason has worked with great people, built buildings, managed projects, been a business developer, and served in the Marines. In a unique experience, he walked to Manhattan under the East River on a project pre-bid site tour and his construction experiences have been quite a ride! He is passionate about the wood industry’s impact to support a sustainable future. A life-long learner, Jason completed his MBA at Virginia Tech, BS in Business Administration at Norwich University, a Professional Education Certificate in Construction Management at UC Davis, and is a designated design-build professional. He has enjoyed his experiences in the wood industry, general contracting, structural precast concrete, and residential construction. Based in Greensboro, NC he manages the eastern US field team and the construction management program for WoodWorks.

    Jessica brings to our team her enthusiasm for the construction industry and over a decade of experience in architectural design, structural engineering, project management, and acoustics—having worked on projects across the U.S. and Canada. In joining WoodWorks, Jessica proudly becomes the third generation of her family to work in the wood products industry. A creative and analytical thinker, Jessica thrives when solving complex problems, creating, and talking “all things design.” She holds a Master of Civil Engineering from Clemson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from UNC Charlotte. She is based in the Charlotte area.

    Momo is passionate about building sustainable structures and enjoys helping developers and design teams find elegant wood solutions that are also cost effective. A licensed Professional Engineer in New York and Ontario, she received her M.Eng. in Civil Engineering from MIT and a BASc from the University of Toronto. She has experience working in both the U.S. and Canada, and, prior to WoodWorks, was a Project Manager and Structural Engineer for commercial, healthcare and institutional projects. Momo is based in Brooklyn, New York, where she also volunteers with high school students to foster their interest in engineering.

    Shannon is a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania. Before joining WoodWorks, she provided structural design services on a variety of projects—from mission-critical government structures to residential homes. Shannon is enthusiastic about sustainable construction, drawn to how the intrinsic characteristics of the various materials utilized in a design dictate the functionality and limitations of a structure. Based in the Philadelphia Area, Shannon is eager to educate others about the possibilities and benefits of light-frame and mass timber construction. She received her BS in architectural engineering and her MS in civil engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA.

    Jason Bahr, PE, has more than 20 years of experience as a structural engineer and a passion for sustainable building. He has a breadth of expertise in preparing structural calculations and design documents for educational building projects, along with residential construction and remodeling experience. As a timber frame designer early in his career, he gained an immense appreciation for the beauty and resilience of wood as a structural material. Always a creative problem solver and enthusiastic collaborator, Jason has worked with multidisciplinary teams throughout his career to move forward impactful projects. Jason holds combined Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Architectural Engineering from Kansas State University.

    Mark joined the WoodWorks team in 2017. Before joining WoodWorks, he spent 11 years as a consulting engineer, eight years as a field engineer with Simpson Strong-Tie, and six years in business development for an engineering firm. His structural engineering project experience includes retail, hospitality, education, aviation, theaters, renovations of existing structures, and post-installed anchorage to concrete. Mark received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in structures from Lehigh University and has worked as a structural engineer in many capacities. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the states of Texas and Oklahoma.

    Kate has over a decade of construction industry experience in the Pacific Northwest. Her involvement with wood structures began as an undergraduate at Colorado State University, where she participated in the NeesWOOD CAPSTONE shake table test in Japan. As a licensed Professional Engineer in Oregon and California, she worked on mass timber projects during the early stages of code development for CLT. Kate has experience in both the fields of engineering and construction management and her diverse background enables a holistic approach to projects and problem solving with constructability and non-structural building systems in mind. She holds a dual Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering and Wood Science from Oregon State University, with a focus on structural engineering.

    Chelsea is a licensed structural engineer in the state of California. She received her BS in Engineering from Harvey Mudd College and MS in Civil Engineering from Stanford University. Chelsea spent nine years in structural design consulting prior to joining WoodWorks. Her experience is in a variety of sectors including residential, higher education and retrofit of existing and historic structures. She is passionate about sustainability and the use of wood as a building material to reduce the embodied carbon emissions of structures.

    Eric is a licensed Professional Engineer in the States of Oregon and South Carolina, and a LEED Green Associate. He received a master’s from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate from Clemson University. Eric brings to the Woodworks team his vertically integrated experience with mass timber, including manufacturing, product testing and certification, as well as private structural consulting. In addition, Eric has experience in project-specific testing for mass timber assemblies in supporting the Alternate Means Process. He is passionate about net-zero built environment and advocates the use of wood in buildings as an effective means to sequestrate carbon.

Through her prior role as a WoodWorks Regional Director focused on project support in nine western states, Janelle developed a unique perspective when it comes to knowledge sharing.     Mike received his Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo in 1979 and has 37 years of structural engineering design, plan check/peer review and investigative experience. He has been involved in the production of engineering calculations and construction documents, construction administration, field investigations and report writing for educational, commercial, industrial, medical, institutional, residential and military projects utilizing all types of building materials. Mike is a licensed Structural Engineer in the State of California.

    Dr. Breneman is a licensed Structural Engineer and Professional Engineer in the State of California, a PE in the State of Washington, and Senior Technical Director – Mass Timber in the Project Resources & Solutions Division of WoodWorks. He received bachelor’s and master’s from the University of Florida and a doctorate from Stanford University. Scott has experience with structural design, seismic rehabilitation, and peer review of projects varying from single-family homes to high-rise hospitals. He is Past-President of the Structural Engineers Association of Central California, an associate member of the seismic subcommittee of ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures, and a member of the PRG 320 CLT product standard committee. At WoodWorks, he provides project support and education to individuals designing wood buildings and oversees the development of technical educational content.

    Ashley is a licensed professional and structural engineer in California, having worked as a structural consultant in the San Francisco Bay Area and Spokane, Washington, with an expertise in light wood-frame construction. In addition to providing technical support on light wood-frame and mass timber projects around the country, she leads WoodWorks’ efforts to educate architects and engineers on using life cycle assessment as a tool to measure the embodied carbon impact of wood products and buildings. Throughout her career, Ashley has been involved in various professional and code-development committees. She received a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and a Master of Science from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

    Matt brings nearly two decades of experience as a consulting structural engineer to the WoodWorks team, with extensive experience in Type III multi-family housing, mixed-use, residential, commercial, retail, office, and education projects. His passion for structural design with wood materials has inspired a career focused on light-frame wood, traditional heavy timber, and mass timber projects. Matt is a graduate of Montana State University with a degree in engineering (MS Civil Structures) and psychology (BS). He is a licensed Structural Engineer in California and Washington and a Professional Engineer in Montana and Wyoming.

    Alex Dukeman is a Licensed Professional Engineer in Colorado. Alex joined WoodWorks with over a decade of experience as a project engineer, passionate about cultivating the next generation of engineers and building lasting relationships with project partners. She has extensive expertise in multi-family wood design, having worked on numerous multi-family, mixed-use, and senior living projects throughout Colorado.

    Karen has been a consulting structural engineer, project manager and team leader for over twenty-seven years. Her experience includes new construction, additions, renovations, historic preservation, blast and progressive collapse, finite element modeling, and structural investigation and repair for government and private facilities from concept through construction. Projects have included health care, office, retail, K-12 and higher education, religious, theater, historical, industrial, military, multi-family, parking, residential and mixed-use buildings. Karen is a registered professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia, and has a BAE, Structural Emphasis, from Pennsylvania State University.

    As both a licensed Architect and Structural Engineer in the state of California, Melissa has a broad perspective on the industry, as well as technical design expertise from seismic to hurricane regions. Over the past few years, she helped expand WoodWorks’ offerings to support real estate developers, and generated content related to wood’s light environmental footprint, biophilic design, circularity, and wildfire resilience. Melissa manages the development of WoodWorks’ Mass Timber Business Case Studies, which address the financial performance of US developments constructed with mass timber. She is actively involved in ULI and Vice-Chair of the Sustainable Development Council.

Having worked in a traditional consulting role focusing on low and mid-rise structures and with an engineered wood products supplier working on complex custom homes, he developed a specialty in light wood-frame and mass timber construction. Taylor received a Bachelor of Science degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Master of Engineering from The University of Connecticut.

His multi-faceted career includes architectural design, structural design, project consulting, product/market development, and various roles within the engineered wood products industry.

She has led teams in both the areas of design and technical support. She has a strong background in team mentoring, leadership and reporting. Before that, Heather spent five years in the United States Navy followed by four years in the California Air National Guard.

    David Nelson is a licensed professional engineer in the state of Idaho. Prior to joining WoodWorks, he spent 12 years with the engineered lumber product division at Weyerhaeuser, in roles that included manager of code acceptance, market/product support engineer, and engineering lead – product testing. He also spent two years at a structural engineering firm in Seattle, Washington, where he gained experience in structural design, existing structure analysis and construction support. David received his bachelors and masters degrees in Civil/Structural Engineering from Washington State University. He is the 2013/2014 Vice President and immediate Past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Idaho and has been published in the Building Safety Journal.

    Mandy is a digital marketing expert with more than 15 years of experience that includes website creation/operation/analytics, social media strategy/execution, customer experience strategy, digital video editing, and graphic design. Her previous roles have included Senior Web Operations Manager and E-Learning Associated Producer, both for the National Council of State Nursing Boards. Most recently, she has been working as a consultant from her Chicago-based home office. She has a BSBA from the University of Arizona with a double major in marketing and entrepreneurship.

    Jennifer Cover is a California licensed professional engineer and President & CEO of WoodWorks. She has been with WoodWorks since its inception and, prior to this role, was National Director of the Architectural & Engineering Solutions Division. Since 2006, she has also been an adjunct professor teaching timber design at the University of California, San Diego. Her background is in structural design, project management and strategic planning. She has an MS in Civil Engineering (emphasis in Construction Management) from the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Structural Engineering from the University of California, San Diego. She is a member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California as well as the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

    Bill leads WoodWorks’ Operations Division. He is actively involved in the emergence of mass timber and continued advancement of light-frame construction in the U.S., as well as increased partnerships among manufacturers and other groups within the sector. In his role as COO, he is also instrumental in the development of systems and strategies that allow WoodWorks to support an increasing number of AEC professionals. Prior to WoodWorks, Bill spent 15 years leading the strategic rollout of new product lines, managing technical teams and growing the long-term profitability of business units. A licensed engineer in the State of California, he has a master’s from Washington State University and an undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University.
